Our museum practice

Slover Linett is a Chicago-based research & evaluation firm for museums and other cultural and educational institutions. We conduct market research, visitor studies, and exhibit and program evaluations for all kinds of visitor-based institutions, from art museums to zoos, botanic gardens to science centers.

We’re passionate about helping museum leaders, staff, and trustees take a fresh look at their audiences — the community, visitors, members, and donors — then use those insights to increase attendance, improve the exhibit experience, and broaden support.

We’ve become a thought-partner to leading museums including the Smithsonian Institution, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the Shedd Aquarium, and others. We’ve also worked with community museums and fledgling organizations, like the National Public Housing Museum in Chicago and the Action Center to End World Hunger in New York.

We’re active members of the American Association of Museums (AAM) and the Visitor Studies Association (VSA). One of the firm’s partners, Peter Linett, is an editor at Curator, the museum field’s leading peer-reviewed journal, and an advisor to AAM’s Center for the Future of Museums. We're part of the national dialogue about museums’ purposes and possibilities in a changing society, and we bring that context to every research and evaluation study we undertake.

Would your museum like to engage its audiences in a dialogue through rigorous research and evaluation? We’d love to help. Please contact our senior associate for museums, Sarah Lee, by email or phone.
